Trimaran Florence Artaud is up for sale… on Leboncoin!

The mythical boat is up for sale on Leboncoin! Currently moored in the port of Sète (Hérault), this is a former Pierre 1er trimaran that enabled French navigator Florence Artaud to become the first woman to win the Route du Rhum in 1990. Nicknamed “the little bride of the Atlantic”, she died in 2015 in a helicopter crash in Argentina.

His old boat, which sold for €390,000 up from €450,000 a few months ago, is struggling to find a buyer. “Until now, we have only had sweet dreamers,” says Jean-Pierre Frery of Cap Océan, who has been in charge of sales since February. As soon as the question of funding arises, everything gets stuck. This former professional skipper estimates that €60,000 is required for repairs and about €50,000 for annual maintenance.

“An hour of sailing, two hours of work behind”

In 2022, this 18m sea giant crossed the finish line of the Route du Rhum again, this time with Philippe Poupon in 7th place. The sailboat, owned by the former mayor of Chenet-Rockencourt (Yvelines), Philippe Brillot, has also been used since 2021 to make the biopic of Florence, Artaud Géraldine Danon. Flo premiered out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival in April and hits theaters on November 29.

“This boat represents the first generation of trimarans. From now on, it is more intended for day trips,” continues Jean-Pierre Frery, who describes the future owner as “passionate” and “for whom one hour of sailing rhymes with two hours of work behind.”
