Panama reached the Gold Cup final for the third time; the two previous ones were in 2005 and 2013 and both were lost.
Mexico got into the Gold Cup final for the eleventh time; of the 10 previous finals, they won eight (1993, 1996, 1998, 2003, 2009, 2011, 2015 and 2019) and lost two (2007 and 2021).

HOW DO THEY GET THERE
The first semifinal was played at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California. The United States and Panama were unable to break a goalless tie during the 90 minutes of regulation.
It wasn’t until extra time, at minute 99, when the Canal squad took a 1-0 lead in a one-on-one in which Iván Anderson beat the American goalkeeper Matthew Turner.
The Stars and Stripes team evened the score 1-1 with a volley shot by Jesús Ferreira inside the area at 105.
The pass to the final was defined in penalty shootouts. Panama defeated the United States 5-4. Fidel Escobar, Ismael Díaz, Édgar Bárcenas, Cecilio Waterman and Adalberto Carrasquilla scored for the Canal team; only Cristian Martínez failed to collect from him.
For the North American squad, Djordje Mihailovic, Jordan Morris, Julian Gressel and Matt Miazga were right; the Panamanian goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera stopped the shots of Jesús Ferreira and Cristian Roldán.
The second semifinal was played at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, where Mexico sealed their place in the final with a 3-0 win over Jamaica.
Henry Martín made it 1-0 for the Mexican team with a shot inside the area at minute 2. Luis Chávez made it 2-0 by taking a free kick that he placed in the upper left corner, at 30.
Already in compensation time, at 90+3, Roberto Alvarado sealed the 3-0 score for the Mexican team with a shot inside the area.
