Yamila Rodríguez, a figure of the Argentina team in the 2023 Women’s World Cup, came out to defend herself on social networks after being a victim of harassment for not having a Lionel Messi tattoo. This is because she does look like Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Armando Maradona in her skin.
After having to put up with questions and even threats, the player spoke in a statement and had to clarify that she has nothing against the ’10’ from the ‘Albiceleste’.
“Please stop, I’m not having a good time. At what point did I say that I am anti Messi? ”, She began by saying through Instagram. “Stop saying things that I didn’t say because I’m really having a bad time,” she added, uncomfortable with the “barbaric things that are said without mercy.” “Can’t you have an idol or a player you like?” she emphasized.
“I never said that I am anti Messi, I never would be. Messi is our great captain in the National Team but the fact that I say that my inspiration and my idol is CR7 (by Cristiano Ronaldo) does not mean that I hate Messi. But to me (we can all like different things and that should be valid) I like another player more, the one who inspired me. What is the problem?”.
“We are not obliged to only love the players of our country. Enough. It tires, it hurts”, declared the referent of the Argentine women’s team, obviously affected by the situation.
