A crash left Alejandro Restrepo, Deportivo Pereira’s coach, on the ground during the second leg of the Colombian team against Independiente del Valle for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores.
About 40 minutes into the game, Junior Sornoza lost his balance after colliding with an opponent and ended up pushing the coach hard, who suffered a spectacular fall and claimed the player from the Ecuadorian team.
The incident provoked the reaction of the substitutes and starters of Deportivo Pereira, who at that time lost 1-0 and later found the tie, getting the classification.

In the Ecuadorian capital, the modest Pereira, absolute debutant in the main Conmebol club tournament, became strong to draw 1-1 with Independiente del Valle, whom he had defeated in Colombia 1-0.
Michael Hoyos excited the local fans with a goal at minute 6, but in minute 88 he missed a penalty. Larry Angulo had equalized at 50 for Pereira.
