World Championships in Athletics: 200m sprinters involved in cart accident before race

World 100m champion Noah Lyles easily cleared half of the 200m on Thursday at the World Championships in Athletics in Budapest, minutes after the two golf carts collided.

Athletes are transported from the warm-up stadium to the main stadium in half-open carts that can accommodate eight people in addition to the driver, in which stationary cameras are placed.

According to television footage, two carts collided at low speed on Thursday evening. One of only two sprinters to compete in the 200m semi-finals, including 100m world champion and two-time American 200m champion Noah Lyles.

“The order of the 200m semi-finals has been changed due to a collision between two bogies. An athlete and a volunteer were examined. The athlete is allowed to participate in competitions, ”World Athletics said in a statement.
