Unstoppable: This is how the Kia Half Marathon of Lima and 10K Powered by Puma lived

On Sunday, August 27, the 114th edition of the Lima Half Marathon (MML) was held, an event that was attended by more than 15,000 athletes gathered with the mission of running through the capital in 21K and 10K. The starting point was the Plaza de Armas in Lima and the goal was established in the Parque de La Reserva, in the Magic Water Circuit. This new edition of the oldest race in South America was organized by Peru Runners with the Municipality of Lima and in partnership with Puma and Kia.

“For us it has been incredible to add our history of more than 75 years to the legacy of the 114 years of the Lima Half Marathon. It fills us with joy, enthusiasm and pride. We hope that this will be our first participation of many more”, commented Jean Paul Duguid, Marketing Director for Latin America at Puma.

Throughout the route, athletes of all ages could be seen running and enjoying the architecture of Lima and the most traditional places in the capital. National and international runners passed through Jirón de la Unión, Paseo de la República, Paseo de los Héroes Navales, Canaval and Moreyra, among other emblematic spaces of the city. “This half marathon is the most beautiful of all because it is in the center of Lima. The view and the panorama have nothing to envy from the historical centers of many cities in the world”, says Nora Acevedo, a runner who participated in the MML.

THE APPROPRIATE DRESS

In this type of competition, one of the essential factors is having the ideal clothing for the race. This year the registered athletes were able to run with a T-shirt with DRYCELL technology. “It has been one of the best shirts that we have been given in all the races that have existed”, says Rubén Valenzuela, amateur runner.

In addition, thanks to Puma, the athletes registered in the competition had the option of personalizing the shirt with their names. “Not everyone has this detail of having your name on the shirt, but it makes it very valuable, because the shirt will be remembered,” says André Yanque, an 18-year-old who was encouraged to participate in the race with his father and his two brothers.

Young people, adults, seniors and even children who accompanied their parents in the races lived the Lima Half Marathon to the fullest. “As Puma, we are very happy to be part of this half marathon. I saw families and people enjoying it, giving it their all, and also many people cheering. And those are precisely the values we have as a company. We want to invite the great professionals and also the amateurs to play sports”, says Jean Paul Duguid.
