Last Sunday, August 27, in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, the “21K of the City of Buenos Aires” took place. In said event that had more than 23 thousand runners, the Peruvian athlete René Champi managed to break the national record that he had set Willy Canchanya in 2018.
Champi did not manage to get on the podium, he was in eighth place, but he achieved a time of 01:02:06, for which he seized the national record in half marathon. Five years ago, Canchanya had achieved the mark with a time of 01:02:11.
The event held in Argentina also had the participation of other national athletes such as Ulises Martin Ambrosio and Ferdinand Manrique, who ranked ninth and fourteenth respectively.
Also, the winner of the race was the Kenyan Kipkorir Konga, who was the first to arrive with a time of 59:07, although he failed to break the test record. The other two runners who followed him were also from Kenya.
