A Newcastle fan was stabbed in the early hours of this Tuesday in Milan, just a few hours before the duel that will confront these two teams in the Champions League, the police reported, specifying that the victim is out of danger.
“The officers from the Porta Ticinese police station intervened after the attack by a British man who was accompanied by a friend,” explained a police source.
“The 58-year-old man was approached by a group of hooded men and was injured in the arm and back. He was transferred to the Milan hospital, which he will be able to leave shortly,” this source specified.
The police added that an investigation has been opened to determine “if this attack is related to a conflict between fans or is a criminal act.”
Shortly before, a Newcastle spokesperson expressed the English club’s concern “due to reports of a violent attack by a fan in Milan.”
AC Milan welcomes Newcastle this Tuesday starting at 1:45 in the afternoon, on the first day of the group stage of the Champions League.
