Boca loses the classic: Why did the defeat against River Plate turn Luis Advíncula into a trend… and Carlos Zambrano?

A match at the Bombonera in Buenos Aires made two Peruvians a trend on the continent. Boca Juniors lost the superclásico 2-0 against River Plate and the ‘xeneize’ fans criticized coach Jorge Almirón for leaving Luis Advíncula on the bench and reminded the board that he made a mistake by signing the Paraguayan Bruno Valdez instead of retaining to Carlos Zambrano, now in Alianza.

The concrete thing is that, in the classic day of the Argentine League Cup, Boca Juniors was once again the team without football or variations and was easy prey for River Plate, which scored a goal in each half and celebrated again in the Bombonera after five years. Since 2018 they have not won against those in blue and gold.

And Luis Advíncula saw everything from the substitute bench since he couldn’t even enter. And the criticism came to coach Jorge Almirón because he once again placed a full-back as an attacker, but it was not the Peruvian. Lucas Blondel was chosen – leaving Weigandt, but the bet did not pay off and he had to reconsider for the second half.

Coach Almirón made three changes at halftime, but Luis Advíncula was not among those chosen. Then, with the score against him, he only made variations in attack, so the Peruvian was left without a chance.

Meanwhile, Carlos Zambrano was a trend because the Boca Juniors fans pointed to the Paraguayan Valdez for River Plate’s second goal. The defender made a mistake and could not clear the ball that was left for Díaz so that he could easily score the sentence of the match.

Carlos Zambrano did not renew with Boca Juniors at the end of last year and returned to Peru to play League 1. Thus, this year, without the national defender, the ‘xeneize’ team has not been able to win either of the two games against their classic rival. They lost 1-0 at the Monumental and yesterday 2-0 at the Bombonera.

There is concern in the ‘xeneize’ store because with coach Jorge Almirón they have only won two of their last thirteen games and in seven of the last ten they have not been able to score goals and this Thursday they are playing for a place in the final of the Copa Libertadores against Palmeiras in Brazil .
