PSG Women: Gerard Precher leaves the club, his son Jocelyn replaces him

Information has been recorded within the club since Wednesday evening: Gerard Precher, coach of the PSG women’s section since the summer of 2022, leaves his post after the season has barely begun. After several weeks of negotiations between the 63-year-old man and the capital’s club, an agreement was reached and initialed between the two parties. He will be replaced on the bench by his son Jocelyne Precher, who has been his first assistant until now.

And if the existing lineup doesn’t change, there could be a newcomer: Paulo Cesar. The current U19 women’s national team coach and former PSG player could join the team as Jocelyne Precher’s assistant. Nothing has been done about this yet. Paris wants to officially announce to the public the departure of Gerard Precher this Thursday or Friday morning.

Although this may seem like a bomb, the information has been known to players for several days. Following a 3-0 win in Bordeaux at the opening of the championship on Sunday, September 17, the women’s team was informed of the situation. Gerard Precher will no longer be PSG coach after returning from the international break. Since this Wednesday, the return has been made by those who played in the selection, such as the Frenchwoman Grace Geyoro, Elisa de Almeida or Sakina Karchaoui.

At the end of last season I already doubt it

The Parisians are preparing for a big shock in D1 Arquem, Sunday evening at the Parc des Princes hosting Olympique Lyonnais, starting on day 2 of the championship. The relationship between Gerard Precher and the sporting management of Angelo Castellazzi and Sabrina Delanna has been somewhat turbulent since the arrival of the former coach and OL coach at INF Clairefontaine. It was heartwarming, but there were a lot of disagreements.

At the end of last season, Gerard Precher already expressed doubts about his desire to continue working as a coach of the first team. “I don’t know,” he said in May about his future. I need time to recover. I’m tired of the deception behind labels. PSG must provide guarantees to build a great club. Being competitive is not enough. I want to finish my career with the desire to win. »

But in mid-June, Gerard Precher and PSG agreed to go on tour for at least one season. The club’s very active transfer window (8 arrivals, integration of contenders, extension of Geyoro) was not enough to dispel the coach’s doubts.

The departure of Kadidiatou Diani to the PR was, in particular, an element of his thoughts. “I’m not very young. I’m not old enough to build anymore,” he also said last May. Will this decision cause one of the most iconic coaches in French women’s football to leave?

In a press release issued on Thursday afternoon, PSG cited “personal reasons” for the departure and thanked Gerard Precher “for his investment and work done over the past 14 months.”
