Anderson Santamaria replaced Carlos Zambrano in Peru’s 2-0 defeat against Chile by Qualifiers and, despite the result, rescued good defensive behavior from the red and white team.
“I think the team played a very good defensive game, but another lack of attention to the dead ball cost us the game like against Brazil, today (yesterday) it cost us against Chile.”
“These Qualifiers are like that, one oversight and the game changes completely,” he added.
Meanwhile, he stressed that the rival found “the backs of our midfielders very easy,” but that these are situations that must be corrected and move forward.
In addition, he referred to the play of Chile’s second goal in which he played a leading role, after being surpassed by the rival who finally sent the ball to the Peruvian area.
“I don’t know whether to fail, it’s a hand-to-hand situation as they reach the finish line. We had other teammates who could have rejected the ball, but that’s it, now let’s think about Argentina,” he said.
Peru will host the world champion Argentina this Tuesday, October 17, for the fourth round of the Qualifiers.
