The Bicolor attacker suffered a strong stomp from the Albiceleste defender, which referee Jesús Valenzuela did not notice or sanction as a foul.
A separate duel was the one between Guerrero and Romero during the Peru vs Argentina match for the 2026 Qualifiers.
The first half ended with a score of 2-0 in favor of Argentina. The goals were scored by Messi.
