Caminos del Inca: for the second consecutive year it will end in the provinces: find out the details of the race

The passion for cars is experienced in a particular way in the different areas through which Caminos del Inca passes: from the little ones betting on the passage of cars on the lonely roads of the frozen Peruvian mountains to the entire families that arrive at each car park. repairs to meeting their favorite driver or seeing the car they followed on social networks raising dust on neighboring roads.

This is how Caminos is experienced, the most important test of Peruvian motorsport that unites the main cities of the center and south of the country. Therefore, for the second consecutive year, the race will end in the provinces, this time with the final podium in the Plaza de Armas of Arequipa, where the Quero, the beautiful trophy that is put up for grabs for the winner of the general classification, will be awarded. in addition to the prizes for each category.

“Caminos is a festival of the people. The essence is to have a race that continues to connect people,” says Luis Alayza, president of the Peruvian Automobile Club, organizer of the race.

And there are seven regions where Caminos del Inca will leave its mark, with seven super primes where the local population will enjoy the passage of the cars along routes that they themselves have worked to welcome the race.

That is Caminos del Inca in its 51st edition. And the 92 pilots will go out to run it with the desire that, as they themselves say, the Inca chooses them to take the glory.

—Champions in the race—

At a competitive level, it is one of the tests with the presence of many champions among the 108 registered, with the return of Nicolás Fuchs to the Peruvian routes with the Yangali Racing Team. The ‘Mono’ Orlandini remains in the race, the Palomino brothers, Richard and Ronmel, Luis Alayza with his new Toyota Yaris and the experienced Ricardo Dasso, among others, such as the Tracusa Racing team with Jorge and André Martínez, or the return of Raúl Velit and the return of Lucho Mendoza.

And the demand will be total because six stages will be run with only three days of repairs, that is, two days in a row on two occasions. These will take place between Ayacucho-Andahuaylas and Andahuaylas-Cusco, between Wednesday the 25th and Thursday the 26th of October, and then between Cusco-Puno and Puno-Cusco on Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th, at the close of the race.

With these measures, each delegation will have to work quickly on the repairs as soon as they arrive at their stops, be it Andahuaylas and Puno, to leave everything ready so that they can leave for the test the next day.

For the first time the test will have a stoppage in Andahuaylas, and this for a matter of time. The traditional Ayacucho-Cusco is the longest stage that exists and since there are more than one hundred cars in the race, it takes the longest and many vehicles arrived at the Imperial City late at night. We want to avoid that, which is why a strategic stop will be made in Andahuayl territory to speed up the march. In addition, running this section allows for a 180-kilometer route on dirt, when last year it was done entirely on the track.

Each stage will be run for approximately two hours of specials, which forces each crew to adapt to the conditions, take care of their engines and tires, and the assistance teams to position themselves strategically to deal with any unforeseen event.
