With his goal in Liverpool’s last Europa League victory, Mohamed Salah broke a record set by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in 2006.

Liverpool defeated Toulouse 5-1 at Anfield on Thursday evening thanks to goals from Diego Jota, Wataru Endo, Darwin Nunez, Ryan Gravenberch and Salah.

The Egyptian winger came on as a substitute with about twenty minutes to go and scored the equalizer with a beautiful goal in the 93rd minute.

It was his 43rd goal in major European competitions for the Reds, the most ever scored by a player from an English club.

Of these, 41 came in the Champions League, the remaining two scored in the Europa League this season.

It surpasses Henry’s total of 42 at Arsenal: 35 in the Champions League and seven in the UEFA Cup.

It’s another incredible record for Salah to add to his collection, including: most Champions League goals for an English club, most goals scored by an African player in UEFA club competitions and Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League and in Europe.

“It’s very easy to fall in love with this team because there is a lot of excitement,” Reds coach Jurgen Klopp said after the win in Toulouse.

“You saw it when it was hard. Most of the time we were in complete control.

“We scored good goals, no one got hurt, a perfect evening.” We can take the kids.”

Liverpool have won all three Europa League matches this season and are five points clear at the top of Group E, ahead of Union Saint-Gilloise, Toulouse and LASK.

Salah will get his first chance to add to his record tally when they travel to the French side on November 9.

Before that, he will hope to continue Liverpool’s excellent start to the Premier League season on Sunday when they host Nottingham Forest.
