TNT Sports’ coverage of Tyson Fury’s fight against Francis Ngannou disappeared just 40 minutes into the show, sparking outrage among fans.
While host Laura Woods was forced to apologize on behalf of TNT Sports Box Office, an “end of show” message was played.
Sources suggested the transmission failure was due to a faulty power generator, with technicians in Riyadh working to resolve the problem.
Although some photos were eventually returned so fans could see some of the action in Saudi Arabia, they had no sound and the quality of the video would suffer.
Fans paid £21.95 to watch the full undercard and main event between Fury and Ngannou, but were left furious as the broadcast descended into chaos, with some venting their frustrations on social media.
TNT Sports host Woods said: “Sorry to interrupt, we now know what it was and it won’t happen again.”
But after her comments, fans were left with a blurry screen and no sound.
“Looks like paying for #furyvsngannou was a mistake,” one fan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “There’s a reason it’s called #TNTSports. Like TNT, it is quite unstable.’
Another wrote: “TNT is a total mess. Eddie laughing all the way to the bank.”
TNT Sports only hit screens in Britain this summer, rebranding from BT Sport after the latter was bought by Warner Bros. Discovery – the global mass media group that also owns Eurosport.
