“It’s a big club”: Yoshimar Yotún’s peculiar response about his future in League 1 Betsson

Yoshimar Yotún finished one more season of the League 1 Betsson with Sporting Cristal. And, although the goal of becoming champions was not one hundred percent fulfilled, the Rimenses, with ‘Yoshi’ as captain, managed to qualify for the 2024 Copa Libertadores. In that sense, the midfielder was consulted about his future in the League 1 Betsson.

Yotún’s name has been linked on several occasions with Alianza Lima and Universitario, two large clubs in the country and direct rivals of Cristal. The hierarchy of the midfielder, with a past abroad and a figure in the Peruvian team, makes everyone love him.

However, despite the tumors, Yoshimar pointed out that his future will continue to be at Rímac. “I have a contract with Cristal and obviously there are many rumors,” he declared upon leaving La Videna, after another day of work under the orders of Juan Reynoso, coach of the Peruvian team.

Minutes later, Yotún was asked if he had received the call from the country’s big clubs. And his response was as blunt as it was peculiar: “Yes, Cristal, it is a big club,” he said, making his position clear.

Although the celestials beat Alianza Atlético de Sullana on the last date, it was not enough for them to equal or surpass Universitario de Deportes and they were in fourth place in the Clausura Tournament standings.

Even so, the celestials managed to qualify for the 2024 Copa Libertadores as Peru 3. The other year they will seek the local title that they have not achieved since 2020.
