Laporta confirmed Koeman’s permanence: “He will continue to be Barca’s coach”

Despite Ronald Koeman’s statements with farewell overtones, he will continue to direct FC Barcelona. The poor results in the Champions League, being the last one against Benfica, put him on a tightrope, however, Joan Laporta showed his support. The Barça president confirmed the permanence of the Dutch coach regardless of the result of the LaLiga match against Atlético de Madrid.

“He will continue to be Barça coach, we understand that he deserves a margin of confidence for many reasons, he is a Barcelona player, a reference in the world of Barça and a culé”, said the Barça president at the exit of the concentration hotel in the capital of Spain.

“Koeman loves Barça and decided to come at a time of maximum institutional and sporting difficulty. After talking to him, I see that he trusts this team, especially from the moment the injured start to recover ”, Laporta commented

“He is a culé and a reference for Barcelona, he will continue to be the coach, he has a contract in force and we hope that we will meet again with the victories and the good game and I am sure that he will do everything possible”, said.

Laporta pointed out that he had spoken with the technician: “He could have had moments of discouragement but he has recovered his spirits and now he has the confidence that the coach should have with the players.”

Likewise, he indicated that his relationship with the Dutch coach is not cold, but “Good and sincere” because he knows that he is a good person and that he thinks the same of him. “We are trying together to make this happen for the better”, added.

Barcelona comes to the Wanda Metropolitano game in seventh place in the standings with only 12 points collected in six games. Atlético de Madrid, meanwhile, is fifth with 14 points.
