Kobbie Mainoo was excluded from Manchester United’s selection for the Champions League match against Copenhagen on Wednesday evening.

The 18-year-old midfielder has featured in United’s last two Premier League games, including Saturday’s late win over Fulham at Craven Cottage.

He has yet to make a senior appearance this season after picking up an injury during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

United fans have been looking forward to the youth product launch of Erik ten Hag, who made it clear this summer that he sees him as a future star at Old Trafford.

The clamor for him to join the team has been fueled by the news that Casemiro is expected to be away until the new year.

However, the teenager will not feature in Wednesday’s crucial group stage match in Copenhagen and is instead expected to feature for the U19 side in the UEFA Youth League match against the same opponents this afternoon.

As expected, Marcus Rashford is back in the squad after missing the win over Fulham with a leg injury.

The England international was back in training on Tuesday alongside Victor Lindelof, who missed the weekend due to illness, with the pair battling it out for a start in the Danish capital.

‘[He is] 100 percent [ready]ten Hag said yesterday at a press conference about his attacker. “Rashy missed a game.” [with] a small knock, but he’s back.’

United will be hoping for more goals from Rasmus Hojlund, who is expected to play against one of his old sides tonight.

The Denmark international has scored three goals in the Champions League this season but is yet to open his Premier League account.

“He understands it, but we will of course talk to him about it, because he is still a young player,” said ten Hag.

‘He is smart. He understands the situation he is in, is aware of it and wants to score goals. If not, he will definitely want to score in the next match. He works very hard in training to make progress.”
