Loiret Paratennis Open: a tournament not to be missed

“We are moving up. In our 23rd edition, the tournament moves from ITF 3 (International Tennis Federation) to ITF 2 (1 is the highest level),” rejoices Stefan Goudou, competition director. More specifically, the Open Paratennis du Loiret becomes the third major tournament in France. This is one of the qualifying competitions for the Paralympic Games, which will take place in Paris from August 28 to September 8, 2024. – announces Stefan Goudou, pleased that thanks to his partners he was able to double the financial rewards received by the players of the tournament. This year they will be 28 thousand dollars.

The competition will involve approximately 600 children over 5 days, twice as many as last year, to participate in an educational project to raise disability awareness. They will be able to become familiar with a wheelchair and how to handle it in sporting event scenarios, as well as interact with tournament players. Young people with disabilities from the Neuville Medical-Pedagogical Institute will join the ball collection team.

Sophie Vouzeleau, first runner-up of Miss France 2007, who is hearing impaired, will be the godmother of this 23rd edition of the pageant. She’ll be there on Friday. Gilles Moretton, president of the French Tennis Federation (FFT), is expected on Saturday afternoon. Entry to the tournament is free: “This is a choice because we want a large audience to come and support the athletes,” explains Stefan Goudou.
