The Chilean Diego Valdés and the Colombian Julián Quiñones scored a double each this Wednesday with which they led the Águilas del América’s 0-5 win at the home of San Luis, with which Brazilian coach Andre Jardine’s team set foot in the final of the Apertura 2023 Mexican soccer tournament.

In the first leg of the semifinals, Henry Martín was the other scorer for the Águilas. The second leg of this series, in which the first finalist of the Apertura will be known, will be played this Saturday at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, home of the Águilas.

América took advantage of their first arrival at the rival area to open the scoring. At minute 4, Miguel Layún put a deep service into the area that Henry Martín lowered and delayed so that Valdés made it 0-1 from the right.

The Águilas increased their advantage with their second shot on goal of the match at 14 when the Spanish Álvaro Fidalgo reached the baseline from the left and crossed a service that Martín, with his forehead, transformed into 0-2.

With no reaction from San Luis in the second half, América defined the win. At 66, Fidalgo gave a pass to Valdés, who with his back to the goal on the edge of the area settled in to define the 0-3 with a low shot by Sánchez’s left post.

The Águilas continued as the only team in the second half that looked for the rival goal and in the 84th the Uruguayan Sebastián Cáceres headed a ball in the area that remained alive due to a poor start by Sánchez and with the goal alone Quiñones sentenced the 0-4 .

Quiñones appeared again in the 95th minute when the Uruguayan Jonathan Rodríguez overtook the left and put a cross to the Colombian, who achieved the final 0-5.
