Reynoso and his ‘second’ departure from the national team: goodbye to a process where everyone lost points and prestige | CHRONICLE

And a new book opens in the history of Peruvian football, with Jorge Fossati at the helm. The Uruguayan coach is the one designated to take over.

Yesterday, around noon, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) announced the end of Reynoso’s relationship as coach of the Peruvian team. A story that began in August of last year and that ends with the worst figures for both sides. The coach leaves the Bicolor last in the Qualifiers table with only two points (and one goal) in six dates, while the federation will have to pay a million-dollar sum for his departure, despite the fact that after negotiations it was reached an agreement that it is not the total of the contract, which was until December 2025.

Yesterday we finally had the outcome of the comings and goings that lasted three weeks, since the 1-1 draw against Venezuela on November 21. With the agreements reached in the board of directors on Monday night, the documentation was sent to the Uruguayan agent, who with his signature concluded the entire novel.

“The FPF thanks the professor for his commitment to his management. Today it is our responsibility to report that the best understanding has been reached to complete his cycle as coach,” reads the statement made public by the federation.

In La Videna they knew that the Reynoso project was not enough, despite the fact that it received the support of the footballers. The poor results and the fact that the coach had not followed some of the recommendations that were given upon his arrival in San Luis ended up sentencing his departure.

Although relations have been complicated in recent weeks, those within the entity that directs Peruvian football hope that Reynoso “will once again successfully represent Peruvian coaches.”

—It was Fossati—

After Reynoso’s goodbye, the welcome to Fossati began. There were already sporting agreements with the Uruguayan coach, but he was waiting for Reynoso to leave before taking the next step.

Yesterday, Fossati’s agent, Pablo Bentancur, received the documentation proving Reynoso’s departure and with this he already had the guarantee of starting the negotiation with both the federation and Universitario. In the afternoon the agreements were made in La Videna, so, according to DT, it will be announced today.

In the cream store they knew that this would be the outcome and they were only waiting for Fossati’s communication, so there will be no problems with the separation. Until the closing of this edition, only details were missing to sign the exit.

The Peruvian soccer champion coach will go on to lead the Peruvian team. Fossati has a lot of experience and knows what it’s like to lead teams, since he did it with his country in the 2010 Qualifiers and then had a double stint with the Qatar team. Peru will be his third World Cup challenge.
