Copa Libertadores Sub 20: Conmebol announces Uruguay as the venue for the tournament in which Cristal will play

There is already headquarters. The South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) announced this Thursday, December 21, Uruguay as the headquarters of the Copa Libertadores Sub 20 of 2024 in which Sporting Cristal will represent Peru after winning the 2023 Reserves Tournament.

The 2024 Copa Libertadores Sub 20 will be the eighth edition of the tournament that began in 2011 and had Universitario de Deportes as the first champion after defeating Boca Juniors on penalties. It will take place from March 2 to 17 in locations to be determined.

Likewise, according to Uruguayan journalist Rodrigo Romano, the host country will have two participating teams: Defensor Sporting and Montevideo City Torque, finalists of the 2023 Uruguayan Championship in the Under 19 category.

Argentina is the other country that will have two teams: Boca Juniors, being the current champion of the competition, and Rosario Central.

Sporting Cristal defeated Universitario de Deportes in the grand final of the 2023 Reserves Tournament and won its presence in the 2024 Copa Libertadores Sub 20. In this way, the Rimenses seek revenge in the competition.

And in 2022 they were eliminated in the group stage by adding only three points in an area in which they were with Independiente del Valle (Ecuador), Caracas (Venezuela) and Blooming (Bolivia).
