Chilean directors seek to meet with Ricardo Gareca to direct ‘La Roja’

After the departure of Eduardo Berizzo from the Chilean team on the last date of the 2026 Qualifiers, the National Professional Football Association is looking for a replacement that can reverse the current situation. Let us remember that ‘La Roja’ is currently in eighth position with five points, that is, outside the World Cup.

In this sense, Ricardo Gareca stands as one of the main options to fill the vacancy. In recent days, various media reported a possible meeting between Pablo Millad, president of the ANFP, and ‘Tigre’, and that the agreement was a fact. But these were quickly denied by the Argentine coach’s lawyer: “I have no news about it,” he indicated.

Although it has not yet taken place, the sports entity would be looking for a meeting with Gareca as soon as possible. Through DSports, journalist Marco Escobar Alvear revealed that before any approach, the next coach of Chile must be defined in a commission made up of the national team manager, Rodrigo Robles, and the head of scouting, Marko Biskupovic.

“There is the national team manager, Rodrigo Robles, and the head of scouting, Marko Biskupovic. They are the first to approach the coaches and then the economic issue is seen by part of the leadership, such as Pablo Millad and some figures from the Federation,” indicated the communicator.
