The Brazilian club Flamengo announced this Sunday the hiring of Uruguayan midfielder Nicolás de la Cruz, considered one of the best footballers of the Argentine River Plate in recent years. After this latest move, ‘Mengao’ reached $183 million in player investment since 2019. No club on the continent has reached that sum.
“De la Cruz is ours,” wrote the popular Rio de Janeiro team on the social network
De la Cruz confirmed the announcement in a video broadcast on the ‘Fla’ social networks and foresaw a good future with the Rio club.
“Naçao. (…) I am arriving in 2024. Big things will come in the next few years,” he said dressed in the Flamengo shirt.
De la Cruz leaves Millonario after winning the Argentine soccer Champions Trophy this week, which is contested by the two winners of the season’s major tournaments – the Professional League and the League Cup.
