Liverpool have reportedly contacted Fulham about the possibility of signing defender Antonee Robinson in January.

Victory over Burnley on Boxing Day puts Liverpool top of the table and they enter the new year with plenty of confidence that they can win the Premier League title.

However, their chances recently suffered a minor blow after Kostas Tsimikas was ruled out indefinitely after breaking his collarbone in the 1-1 draw against Arsenal last week.

With Andy Robertson also out with a shoulder injury and not expected to return until the end of January, Jürgen Klopp has no natural left back at his disposal, while Joe Gomez will play in that position for the time being.

Furthermore, Joel Matip will miss the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury, leaving the Reds without dangerous defensive options and will therefore look to invest in reinforcements when the transfer window reopens.

To this end, Liverpool have contacted Fulham to inquire about Robinson’s availability and the cost of a left-back transfer, according to Express.

The US international is said to be open to a move to Anfield, but a deal could prove expensive as he only signed a new contract five months ago that would keep him at Craven Cottage until 2028.

The 26-year-old, who previously played for Liverpool rivals Everton, moved from Wigan to Fulham in 2020 for just £2 million.

To date, he has made 127 appearances for the Cottagers and was named in the 2021/22 Championship squad as his side challenged for the title.

It remains to be seen whether Marco Silva would be willing to let the defender go as his side are just six points ahead and at risk of being dragged into the relegation battle.

Meanwhile, Fulham can do Liverpool a favor in the title race when they host Arsenal on New Year’s Eve and the Reds take on Newcastle in the first Premier League match of 2024.
