Arsenal legend Ian Wright ‘hopes’ Tottenham star Eric Dier is on his way to Bayern Munich, despite Ange Postecoglou’s comments after the win over Burnley.
It was reported that Dier’s omission from Spurs’ 1-0 FA Cup win over Burnley on Friday was due to him having agreed terms with the German giants.
But after his side secured their place in the fourth round, Postecoglou insisted Dier’s only reason for not being in the squad was injury.
Asked about Dier’s absence, Postecoglou told ITV: “Eric Dier is injured.” “He got injured during training yesterday.”
When asked if he knew anything about the Bayern rumors, he replied: “Absolutely zero.” Eric didn’t train yesterday because he was injured.’
Wright, who shared his thoughts on Postecoglou’s post-match comments, said: “Of course it is.” [a huge move for Dier] at this stage of his career.
“He has difficulty coming to Tottenham. Obviously linked to Bayern Munich.
“If it’s rumors, you hope for his sake that it’s true because he doesn’t know anything about it at this point.”
During his post-match press conference, Postecoglou again sparked rumors of Dier’s departure, admitting that despite Ben Davies’ injury, he could afford to lose him in January.
Should Dier move to Bayern in January, he would join his former teammate Harry Kane, who has been on fire since moving to the Bundesliga last summer.
