Jairo Vélez, Ecuadorian soccer player from César Vallejo, concerned about the crisis of violence in his country

Hours of extreme tension were experienced last Tuesday, January 9, in Ecuadordue to the escalation of violence that was recorded in Guayaquil and other cities in the northern country.

Criminals forcibly entered the headquarters of a television channel and tried to take over a university in Guayaquil, while in other parts of the country, members of criminal gangs caused destruction, attacked police vehicles, set fire to civilian units, committed looting and even murdered two police officers.

President Daniel Noboa declared the existence of an “internal armed conflict” and ordered the Armed Forces to restore order in the streets of the country.

In this regard, the Ecuadorian soccer player from the César Vallejo University, Jairo Velez, He was consulted about the serious security crisis that his country is going through and this is what he responded:

Thank God, in the town where my family is, everything is quiet. “Equally, all the Ecuadorian people are worried about what is happening,” declared Vélez, after the match in which his team and Universitario de Deportes tied without goals for ‘Poet Night’.

“I’m happy for the team, for my teammates, we couldn’t win but we achieved a draw against a very difficult opponent,” he added.
