“The work of ‘Chemo’ is remarkable and he will be a coach for the Sub 20”: this is how they evaluate his process from Videna

We asked the question right away. From San Luis the response was clear regarding the project they had with Chemo and what was coming for him. “No, Chemo is head of the Technical Unit for Minors and he is doing a great job in that position, you will see the results,” they told us at that time.

One of Chemo’s assignments was to lead the Under 23 team in the Pre-Olympic Championships that are being held these days in Venezuela. And last Sunday they beat Chile 1-0 in their debut in a match where his hand in the approach was noticeable.

After the final whistle of the Pacific Classic, we contacted La Videna again, with someone who sees Chemo del Solar’s work up close to give us an impression of what had been seen in Valencia, Venezuela. “I don’t know how they will end up in the tournament, but ‘Chemo’s’ work is remarkable,” they told us briefly.

Finally, it was a 1-0 victory for Peru over Chile at the start of the tournament to which Peru went with half of the Under 18 squad. That is, it gives up to four years with respect to the category, but Chemo del Solar seeks to give play to the minors due to the impossibility of having figures such as Joao Grimaldo, Piero Quispe, Catriel Cabellos, among others, because the clubs did not give them up.

Chemo’s work

But why do Videna trust ‘Chemo’? We have been able to find out that José Guillermo del Solar is a very passionate, studious coach, he works a lot on tactical issues and has known how to choose the right players in positions where they can stand out.

Taking into account that many are under 23 years old, few of the squad have experience in the first division. And Chemo trusts them, like goalkeeper Diego Romero, full-back Emilio Saba -his captain-, or players like Adrián Ascues or Franchesco Flores, who scored the goal against Chile.

Another virtue is the ‘Chemo’ environment. He has surrounded himself with professionals he trusts such as Fernando del Solar (technical assistant), Ricardo Ortega (technical assistant), Mario Mendaña (physical trainer), Martín Correa (physical trainer), Carlos Arteaga (video analyst), Nelson Arias (video analyst) and César Linares, the team leader. With Arias he already worked with Chemo in Cristal in 2017.

What did the sub 23 do after the victory against Chile in the Pre-Olympic?
Jobs

Beyond the celebrations and the good atmosphere generated by beating Chile, Peru’s classic rival, the teams trained this Monday at 9:30 am (local time) at the Puerto Cabello Academy. The players who participated in the game did physical reconditioning work, while the others did ball work. Now, this Tuesday, those led by ‘Chemo’ will train again at the same time and in the same place, where the tactical strategy to face Argentina will be developed.

Chemo will coach the U-20.

As we mentioned in Videna, they are very happy with the work of José Guillermo Del Solar and confirmed to this newspaper that he will take charge of the Peruvian Sub 20, with a view to the South American in Santiago 2025.

Chemo del Solar has said in his last conferences that his concern is the search for talent and thereby forming future teams that can qualify for the World Cup. With the Under 20 he will have that objective, that is why in the current Under 23 he has four Under 17 players, thinking about what is coming.
