Bassco Soyer and the factors behind the elimination of the U-23: “We are very young and physically we are very behind”

Bassco Soyer, midfielder for the Peruvian U-23 team, led by José del Solar, indicated that the elimination of the national team from the Pre-Olympic Tournament .

“We come with a very young group, it is still no excuse not to compete. In Peru we have to work a lot on minorsincluding a lot of us, so turn the page and think about what’s next”, indicated Soyer after the defeat against Uruguay.

“One factor is that we are very young, which is no excuse, and Physically we are very behind, the other countries are a slight difference behind usso there is a lot to work on“added the midfielder.

The Peruvian U-23 team was eliminated from the Pre-Olympic Tournament held in Venezuela after losing 3-0 to its counterpart from Uruguay. Previously they had been defeated 1-0 by Paraguay and 2-0 against Argentina. They only obtained a 1-0 victory against Chile.

At the beginning of last December, José del Solar had indicated that the Peruvian U-23 team would compete in the Pre-Olympic of that category with a great disadvantage, since the teams did not give up their players. He explained that he has 17 footballers from other categories, well, of that number, 14 are 18 years old, while 3 are around 17 years old.
