The Cup, which will have no variations in relation to last year’s competition scheme, will begin with a first phase (eliminatory) in which six teams will fight for three places to access phase 2, where 13 clubs are previously seeded.

The first phase will open on Tuesday night in the Venezuelan city of Valencia between Academia Puerto Cabello and the Uruguayan Defensor Sporting.

A day later, Bolivian Aurora will host Melgar from Peru in Cochabamba, while Aucas will receive the visit of Nacional from Paraguay in Quito on Thursday. The return matches are scheduled for the following week of this month.

Phase 2, with 16 teams distributed in 8 keys, will be played between February 20 and 29, while phase 3, in which the 8 winning teams from the previous round will be fighting for four passes to the groups, will go from March 6 to 13.

The four losing teams from phase 3 will qualify directly to the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana 2022, the second most important club tournament of Conmebol that starts on March 5.

The group stage (8 keys of four teams) of the Libertadores will be drawn in Luque -neighbor of Asunción- on a March date to be announced by Conmebol. According to the calendar of the South American football matrix, this will begin on April 2 and end on May 30.
