Edison Flores stands up for ‘Chemo’ del Solar: “He has always said that he is a fan of Universitario”

Edison Flores, current player and figure of University of Sportsgave an interview to the Entre ceja y ceja podcast, where he spoke about different topics related to Peruvian soccer.

The popular ‘Orejas’ took advantage of the space to talk about a character with close ties to the cream box, such as José ‘Chemo’ del Solar, who was a player and coach of the merengue team.

However, a sector of the cream fans did not see favorably – at the time – that Del Solar decided to direct Sporting Cristal in two moments of his career (2005-06 and 2017), and chose to oppose him and withdraw his “idol” poster of the student cast

In this regard, ‘Orejas’ was blunt when offering his opinion on the case of ‘Chemo’ del Solar, current director of the Technical Unit for Minors of the FPF.

“I think some fans are unfair to ‘Chemo’ del Solar. He has only played in Universitario, he has coached other teams, but he has always said that he is a fan of the ‘U’. There will come a time when the fans realize that ‘Chemo’ will always be the face of the ‘U’”, Flores said.

‘Chemo’ del Solar played for Universitario in the 1986-1989, 1999-2000 and 2001-2002 seasons. He was national champion with the Merengue team in 1987, 1999 and 2000. He also won the 2002 Apertura Tournament.

As a coach he led the club of his loves in the 2010, 2012 and 2014 seasons.
