“We have one chance in 1000”: Chateaudun is ready to give 40 million euros of land for free to host PSG

Having failed to reach an agreement with the mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, on the sale and buyback of the Parc des Princes, President Nasser Al-Khelaifi announced his intention to leave the legendary Parisian stadium, which was declared unsuitable for the implementation of projects. in terms of welcoming the public. This news has made many cities in Ile-de-France eager to welcome the world football giant. Chateaudun springs a surprise, testing its luck, reports L’Equipe newspaper.

Châteaudin’s candidacy was proposed by Julien Cohen, a former host of the program “It’s Done” and an entrepreneur-investor who recently arrived in Dundee, who invited Fabien Verdier. The two men became close. They listen to each other and advise each other on the economic and tourist development of Chateaudun. “Do you have land? Yes. Are you ready to give it to them? Yes” – questions asked by Julien Cohen to Fabien Verdier, who, based on these answers, described in detail other assets that the city has. Here it is not difficult to find from 35 to 40 hectares for the construction of a stadium with 60 thousand seats, unlike other cities of Ile-de-France.

“The airfield today is a huge competitive advantage. We can accommodate the planes, the Falcons, the Cessnas that PSG hosts,” the enthusiast Fabien Verdier tells us, thinking about large delegations, especially at Champions League matches. A map of Greater Paris is also highlighted. The elected official recalls that his city fits perfectly into the project aimed at developing the mobility and transport network of the neighboring departments of the capital. “We must look not at the kilometer, but at the time. We are an hour’s drive from the Parc des Princes. We will get there faster than we can cross the ring road,” says Fabien Verdier. An elected official for Dundee has made contact with the capital’s club. A meeting was even scheduled with the Parisian authority, but it was postponed to a later date.

“I hope to improve relations between PSG and our football team”

“I’m getting a call from Lyon,” Ali Ayadi, president of the local football club, tells us. Since the announcement of this candidacy, all licensees have been talking about it. “Châteaudun is the land of football, we survived the third division, we hosted Guy Roux several times in 89 and 90,” says the president, who himself is inspired by the idea of seeing the arrival of PSG, which, by the way, includes the same colors, like his club, which plays in red and blue colors.

If the small town of Eure-et-Loire has Tom’s Thumb status compared to other applications, then there is no doubt that if the project is successful, it will be synonymous with a jackpot for the city. Tax revenues from development tax, property tax and CFE will allow the municipality to implement projects for sports facilities and increase the attractiveness of the area. “Even if the answer is no, I hope to improve the relationship between PSG and our football team,” concludes the mayor.
