“Fossati has credibility”: Peruvian soccer icons trust in the beginning of a new era in the national team

The Peruvian team is experiencing a new beginning, this time led by Jorge Fossati. And you can see his ideas in action in the friendlies against Nicaragua (Friday) and the Dominican Republic (Tuesday). “This shirt is above everything,” said the coach and soccer legends corroborate the message and believe in the energy that the Bicolor has.

José “Puma” Carranza, Waldir Sáenz, Alfonso “Puchungo” Yáñez, Miguel ‘Conejo’ Rebosio, among others, former members of the Peruvian team met before the friendlies against Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic to provide messages of confidence for the start of a new era in everyone’s team.

“Fossati is a very experienced coach and knows that, with work, everyone cooperating, we can get out of this bad situation. We wish him the best, but this belongs to everyone, we all have to move forward,” says ‘Puma’ Carranza, idol of Universitario, a club with which he won eight national titles.

“We know that the players give everything and will do so in this new stage. They must have continuity in their teams so that they reach the national team well,” added Waldir Sáenz, Alianza Lima’s historic scorer.

“There are many established footballers and new kids. That’s good for the team. Now we hope for a positive start,” said ‘Rabbit’ Rebosio, a footballer identified with Sporting Cristal with whom he reached the final of the 1997 Libertadores.

“Fossati has credibility for what he did at Universitario and we know that the boys always give their maximum effort. That’s what people always applaud,” said ‘Puchungo’ Yáñez, a former soccer player with a past in several national clubs such as ‘U’ and Sport Boys.

All of them shone in different teams, and at the same time knew how to defend the colors of the Peruvian team and a few days ago they met at the Deportop facilities in La Molina on the occasion of the official launch in Peru of Fury Energy, the official energy drink of Liverpool England.

Like Fury Energy, the national team also has the energy to reverse the bad moment it is going through in the Qualifiers. With Jorge Fossati in charge, they will experience their first friendlies in the coming days, facing Nicaragua on Friday, March 22 in Matute and then, on Tuesday, March 26, against the Dominican Republic at the Monumental Stadium.

These matches mark the debut of Jorge Fossati with the Peruvian team, which is preparing to face the Copa América in the United States in June and then in September to resume the Qualifiers and reverse the bad moment that the Bicolor is experiencing.
