“Many boys and girls were born here who today represent Peru in different sports”: ADECORE turns 61 and this is its goal

One of the most anticipated tournaments for schoolchildren began this week. ADECORE, which once witnessed the beginning of the career of Aldo Corzo, now captain of the U. O Miguel Tudela, when he was more a footballer than a surfer and long before he closed 2022 leading the South American ranking of the QS (Qualifying Series) After obtaining five consecutive titles in Galapagos, Iquique, Arica, Rio de Janeiro and Punta Rocas, he competed in Adecore. Or Paola Mautino, athlete and South American champion in high jump, was also there, among the noise of noisemakers and bugles of her promo. Perhaps it is on those interscholastic fields where that competitive spirit that gives them prestige is born. Children and/or adolescents train hard so that their school is the champion and thus marks a milestone in their institution.

Brief history of ADECORE, the school sports calendar that is the symbol of schools in Lima: grouped under the acronym ADECORE, the Sports Association of Catholic Religious Schools – ADECORE, is a non-profit civil association, which aims to efficiently contribute to the comprehensive training and achievement of the sports objectives of the students in the affiliated Catholic and Secular Educational Institutions. It is made up of the Canonesas de la Cruz, Cristo Rey, De Jesus, De La Inmaculada, El Buen Pastor, Juan XXIII, La Inmaculada Concepción and La Salle schools.

There are a total of 48 schools that make up the ADECORE association, including football, volleyball, basketball, chess, are some of the disciplines that children and adolescents practice representing their school.

Simón Ezcurra Zapata, president of ADECORE, talks with El Comercio, in advance of the 61-year history of holding said tournament that brings together secular and Catholic schools in Peru.

“With great expectation we begin this very special year again, it is 61 years since ADECORE, which is recognized as the best school sports association in Lima and why not say it in Peru, and from April 9 the fires are broken, with the soccer championship for senior women and men, medium volleyball for women and men, and junior category basketball for women and men,” he says.

“Currently, we have 48 schools that are going to participate this year, so some more are going to join, and for that reason it says a lot about the organization that it has always been characterized as one of the best associations that the country has. We hope to meet the expectations as organizers, always with the support of the directors and the agreements we have with institutions that help ADECORE continue over time and give us prestige and a recognized track record, due to the number of children who were born here. and in the end they represented Peru in various sports such as soccer, table tennis, swimming, chess. That makes us proud because we encourage practice from the base and that also helps the comprehensive training of each school.”

The favorites as always at Adecore are Juan XXIII, Claretiano, Santa María, Inmaculada, educational institutions that are characterized by being strong and having good preparation. The vast majority of schools begin training in the summer and are specifically looking forward to the 5th grade students, who are their last year of competition and who have the memory of reaching these stages with ADECORE.
