Axel Kei debuted at age 13 and made American soccer history

Axel Kei made history in American soccer and American sport in general by making his debut in a professional league. The player, aged 13 years, 9 months and 9 days, made his debut in the United Soccer League (USL), wearing a Real Monarchs shirt, a subsidiary of Real Salt Lake.

The teenager was a substitute, I patiently await his opportunity and entered the 61st minute to replace the former striker of the United States team, Bobby Wood, who developed a good part of his career in German football, coming to play in the Bundesliga, in Hamburg and Hanover 96.

Returning to the main topic, Kei became the youngest individual, male or female, to appear for an American professional sports team and at the same time, broke the USL record previously held by Phoenix Rising forward Ansuh Kanneh, who made his debut at the age of 14.

Kei reminded Freddy Adu, who made history in Major League Soccer, when he was just 14 years old. Of course, no one under 15 has appeared in a match with one of the five major leagues in Europe, including the Bundesliga, La Liga, Ligue. 1, the Premier League and Serie A, not to mention that no one in American baseball, basketball, soccer or hockey has come close to Axel’s record.

“My dream was to play professionally as soon as possible, and now that I have, my goal is to prove myself at the highest level, stay there and then make the starting lineup.”Kei said, in statements collected by Real Salt Lake.
