The home stretch is underway. 100 days before the start of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the French team decided to publish a promotional video this Wednesday, April 17th. Unveiled at the Grand Palais Ephemeral at the end of the day as part of the event, it is now broadcast on social media. It honors several French legends.

The cast includes three-time Olympic champion Marie-Josée Perec (400m in Barcelona 1992, then 200m and 400m in Atlanta 1996) or judoka David Douillet (gold medalist in Atlanta and Sydney, four years later) . ). Paralympic athletes such as paratennis player Mikael Jeremias (2008 Beijing Olympic doubles champion) were also invited.

In addition to these legends, the video features some of France’s future representatives at the Paris 2024 Games. Among them are Clarisse Agbenenou (judo), Aurélien Giraud (skateboard), Lucas Mazur (para-badminton) and even Marine Boyer (rhythmic gymnastics). In total, the video features 37 athletes who will take part in the Olympic Games this summer.

Thomas Roussel was mobilized to write music for the video. The work was called “A Date with History.” The title is similar to the clip, which comes in two versions: 2-minute and 30-second. It features athletes training or competing. It will be broadcast on television, on social networks, and at the Olympic venues. Everything is accompanied by several videos depicting the slogan and the athletes.

In the heart of the Grand Palais Ephemeral, the video was greeted and applauded for a long time by the French athletes present at the Assembly, which has now reached the home stretch for Paris 2024. They gave a series of interviews and speeches throughout the day. in the media, and also took the opportunity to take photographs and other “official” visuals that could be used during the competition this summer.

At the end of the D-100 ceremony, an army of French fans gradually invaded the area that will be renamed the Arena de Mars this summer and where, among other things, judo competitions will be held in the first week of the Games. This was followed by some applause, some chants from the fans and “La Marseillaise”.
