Juan Vargas: “I wouldn’t like a farewell, but I think I should have done better with the ‘U’”

Juan Manuel Vargasdespite not making his retirement from football official or having had a farewell match, he has been away from professional competition since 2018.

In the second part of his interview on the ‘Enfocados’ podcast, hosted by former soccer players Jefferson Farfán and Roberto Guizasola, he referred to this topic.

“I am a fan of the U, just a fan, I don’t think of myself as an idol. I wouldn’t like a farewell, but I think I should have gotten away from the ‘U’ better,” said the former national team player.

“I didn’t leave as I wanted to leave and reciprocate that issue (affection) when they received me. Things happen for a reason and goodbye, no,” she added.

The popular ‘Loco’ had a 16-year career that began in 2002 when he debuted in professional soccer with a Universitario shirt.

Abroad he wore the Colón shirts of Santa Fe, Catania, Fiorentina, Genova and Fiorentina.

In addition, he was international with the Peruvian team in 62 games with 4 goals scored. He was part of the red and white team that won the bronze medal in the 2011 and 2015 Copa América.
