The Paraguay team confirmed this Thursday its qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup by drawing 2-2 with Peru, which added its first point in the final hexagonal of the South American Championship of the category and retains a remote chance of winning a World Cup berth.

La Albirroja was left with the second of the four places granted by this tournament, after the first was secured by Brazil.

The Guaraní team reached 7 points, after playing the fourth round of the hexagonal, and with this ensured that the Peruvians cannot reach it, since they are bottom with one point in the absence of a date.

The match was exciting, as Fátima Acosta, Paraguay’s best soccer player, gave her team the lead with a beautiful shot from outside the area; but Mía León, with a header after a corner kick, and Ester Díaz, with a powerful shot from the edge of the six-yard box, turned the score around.

Peru took the lead at halftime and in the second half had very clear chances to score the third goal, especially two that Sashenka Porras failed to hit.

After having forgiven the third goal, the Peruvians saw how their rivals tied them in the final stretch of the match with a free kick from Fiorella Fernández, which deflected off the barrier, and with which Paraguay secured a place in the World Cup, to be played between August and September in Colombia.
