Hot match! Rafael Nadal will face Alexander Zverev in his debut at Roland Garros 2024

Rafael Nadal, winner of Roland Garros 14 times, returns to the tournament after not playing it last season. After this morning’s draw, the Spanish tennis player will have a very tough confrontation in the first round, against world number 4 Alexander Zverev, who is in one of his best moments of his career.

The potential semifinals of the tournament would pit Zverev himself against world number 1 and current champion, Novak Djokvovic; and number 2 Jannik Sinner against number 3 Carlos Alcaraz.

Nadal and Zverev meet again after the 2022 semifinal, in which the German had to withdraw after a serious ankle injury when he had the legend of the tournament on the ropes, who ended up winning his 14th crown.

Zverev is now recovering his level and arriving in Paris after winning the Rome Masters 1000, while Nadal has not managed to have continuity after a 2023 that he dedicated to regenerating his battered physique.

In the women’s category, world number 1 Iga Swiatek, a great dominator on clay and three-time champion in Paris, could meet the American Coco Gauff (3rd WTA), winner of the last US Open, in the semifinals.

On the other side of the draw they would potentially face the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (2nd), champion in Australia in 2023 and 2024, with the Kazakh Elena Rybakina (4th), winner of Wimbledon in 2022.
