Paris 2024: foil player Enzo Lefort, a quiet blade two months before the Olympics

Hidden behind rowers, treadmills and other torture devices, he can be seen from behind thanks to his personalized Paris Saint-Germain T-shirt. The letters of his name bent with effort, and his dreadlocks drew arabesques in the air. On Tuesday morning, Enzo Lefort was due to fight his fencing teacher Aymeric Clos at the Paris fencing arena of the National Institute of Sports, Expertise and Performance (Insep), on the lower floor. But nagging pain in his left knee, which had deprived him of two hours of daily training for ten days at the beginning of the year, forced the 32-year-old foil fighter to change his program.

Because he needs to strengthen this weakened joint, he sweats it out in the gym, where he alternates between a series of lower-body and upper-body exercises for three-quarters of an hour. Dumbbells, pull-ups, wrist bands… The three-time world champion foil performs the movement to the fullest. And finds his usual relaxation between two episodes.
