HOW WAS THE FINAL 1ST WAY, SAPRISSA VS LEAGUE ALAJUELENSE?

Liga Deportiva Alajuelense beat Saprissa 1-0 this Wednesday in the first leg of the soccer final in Costa Rica, thanks to a goal from Joshua Navarro in the 90+17 minute.

The Alajuelense fans had to wait an endless 20-minute stoppage time caused by injuries, interruptions, fouls and substitutions, until the goal burst in that unleashed madness in the local stadium.

Saprissa had played almost an hour with one less player due to the expulsion of their goalkeeper Kevin Chamorro for a double yellow card, but after the goal in extra time two more players were sent off for a straight red card. Three less chips for the purple team ahead of the second leg of the final next Sunday at home.

The victory was the first step for Alajuelense in its mission to win both matches in the final, to force a final grand final (third and fourth match).

Saprissa, after having finished leader of the Clausura tournament, has a profit in the key and will define at home. If he wins in the second leg, he will be proclaimed champion. If their rival does so, it would force another new final between both teams.

Saprissa would add its 40th title in Costa Rican soccer. If Alajuelense wins it, it would be his 31st crown.

Both teams have so far starred in more than 400 classics in history, including seven times they faced each other in the championship final, including this Wednesday.
