Match summary.

A header from Paraguayan Alex Arce in the 44th minute put the Albos in front of the scoreboard at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium. The Argentine Lisandro Alzugaray ended up cutting off the head of the Peruvians in the 67th minute when he elegantly defined the 2-0 scoreline.

The Ecuadorians, current champions of the Copa Sudamericana, added 7 points and will compete in the playoffs of the competition – which give access to the round of 16 – to defend their title.

For the locals, the fourth attempt was the lucky one. A tight corner kick gave rise to the goal of the classification. The ball bounced off goalkeeper Sebastián Britos and Arce fished in a troubled river to finish with a header, raising the spirits of the small crowd that accompanied the Azucena team.

Minutes earlier, Universitario had threatened Alexander Domínguez’s goal with a shot and a header from Edison Flores and Matías Benedetto, respectively.
