Congress approves ruling that benefits football clubs that are part of a bankruptcy process

The Commission on Economy, Banking, Finance and Financial Intelligence of the Congress of the republic approved, this Wednesday, May 29, Bill 1137/2021-CR, also called ‘Dead Dog Law’, which seeks to benefit football clubs that are part of a bankruptcy process.

With 12 votes in favor, 3 against and 3 abstentions, the aforementioned opinion was approved by majority, offering institutions that qualify for a special condition that would protect them from bankruptcy.

In this way, a provisional suspension of ordinary bankruptcy procedures is carried out. Among them, the execution of asset seizure measures or forced liquidation.

University would be one of the most beneficiaries of these exceptional and transitory measures that have yet to be evaluated by a congressional working group or in the Plenary itself.

It is worth mentioning that this Bill must still be evaluated by a working group or debated in the Plenary Session of Congress.
