Peru Cup: lightning struck close to Deportivo Garcilaso goalkeeper | VIDEO

The development of the Peru Cup 2021 continues, but a match could not reach the outcome in the usual way, after a weather problem that affected the players. The Eloy Molina Robles de Huanta stadium, in Ayacucho, was the venue for the meeting between Deportivo Garcilaso from Cusco and Maristas de Huacho.

The actions continued normally, but at 86 minutes a lightning strike fell on the field, close to the goalkeeper Patricio Torres, who belongs to the ranks of the Cusco team. After feeling the danger up close, the footballer did not hesitate to leave the field, while his teammates, nervous about what he had experienced, tried to calm him down.

As could be seen in the transmission of the match on Facebook, the goalkeeper chose to leave the field of play, since he could not find the necessary security conditions to be able to complete the 90 minutes. Immediately, the actions had to be stopped by the referee in charge of delivering justice. In the end, all the players left the field.

The match was tied 0-0 until the moment it was interrupted and the rules of the Peru Cup indicate that the winner of the key will have to be defined by the penalty shoot-out. For now, the solution does not seem to be close, since the climate has not improved and care for the protagonists must prevail.

Let us remember that this is not the first time that the weather has affected the Peru Cup or Peruvian football, since in past times there have been suspensions of matches due to this aspect. Fortunately, this time, what happened did not end in a tragedy.
