The first edition of the Balloon World Cup shone with red and white colors. Peruvian Francesco de la Cruz officially became the first World Balloon Champion and, with it, won the competition’s top prize. A figure that amounts to the amount of 10,000 euros.

After defeating the German Jan Spieb by a resounding 6-2 result in a duel that lasted five minutes, Francesco de la Cruz celebrated and took more than half of the money that was going to be awarded in prizes, since the total rises to more than 20 thousand euros among the 32 teams that have participated.

Gerard Piqué and content creator Ibai Llanos created a new sport that promises to revolutionize social media, especially Twitch. The Balloon World Cup comes after they saw a viral video on the Internet and now it has been transformed into a championship in which up to 32 national teams play.

The video that the Catalan footballer and the Spanish streamer observed showed two young Americans who were filmed at home playing with a balloon around their house and the main objective was that the ball does not fall on the ground.

The amount of reception that the Balloon World Cup has achieved has been so great that there are more than 600 thousand people who saw the transmission and the hashtag Balloon World Cup adds more than 80 thousand publications on Twitter.
