Paris 2024 Olympic Games: in search of the minimum Renaud Lavillenie will take part in the Alps meeting in Grenoble on June 19

Renaud Lavillenie is not giving up. Having once again missed the Olympic minimums this Saturday in Le Bourget, the pole vaulter will try his luck again this Wednesday, June 19, at the Alpine competition scheduled at the ASPTT Grenoble Grésivaudan stadium in Montbonneau-Saint-Martin. Also present will be Thibaut Collet, Baptiste Thierry and Robin Emig, finalists of the last European Championships in Rome.

There is not much time left to reach the minimums. Only Thibaut Collet has so far cleared the required 5.82m, while the rest of the French have until June 30 to achieve this. This Saturday in Le Bourget, Renaud Lavillenie did not calm down due to a worrying thigh injury. He failed in a single attempt and failed on three attempts when he reached the 5.60m distance.

“Even though I don’t have any pain, my brain has been in turmoil all week,” he explained, adding that he was injured during a meeting with Pierre-Benit a week earlier. I’m missing that little spark that would allow me to move the pole correctly. “In May in Poland, the Frenchman, however, showed encouraging results, clearing 5.72 meters.

Thus, on May 19, Renaud Lavillenie will have a new chance to secure his place among the three Tricolors in Paris. If he fails, he can try his luck again at the meeting in Toulouse on June 21, and then at the French Championships in Angers, from June 28 to 30. Then it will be too late to run for a fourth Olympic Games.
