Paris 2024 Olympics: Like Kylian Mbappe, Thierry Henry calls for ‘blocking extremes’

Thierry Henry is following in the footsteps of Kylian Mbappe. A day after the Blues captain’s press conference, which called on “young people to go and vote” in the next legislative elections before positioning themselves “against extremes and ideas that divide”, France Espoirs coach made a similar speech in this Monday.

Attending the press conference to mark the start of the Olympic Blues’ rally, the former Arsenal striker took the lead, awaiting questions from journalists about the political news.

“Before I start, I wanted to say that I agree with everything that was said earlier on political issues. I agree with what the players said. I can mention Marcus (Thuram), Kylian (Mbappe), Ousmane (Dembele) and, of course, coach Didier Deschamps. What can stop the extremes is voting, so go ahead. I am against everything that divides, and a little more for what can unite,” Henry explained.

The France A team, which kicks off its Euro against Austria this Monday (21:00), saw its news marked by the week’s political debates and the dissolution of the National Assembly by Emmanuel Macron. Marcus Thuram, the 26-year-old attacker, called at a press conference on Saturday to “fight to ensure that the RN does not pass” in the legislative elections.
