Fernando Gago has an initial agreement to be the new coach of Racing Club

The season in the Argentine Professional League is still in dispute and some teams that started the campaign badly are seeking to rectify their progress. Racing Club is one of them and for several months they began the search for a new coach, but they seem to have found the right man: Fernando Gago.

According to the Argentine press, the board has everything ready to sign a one-year contract with the former footballer in the coming days. The journalist Juan Pablo Varsky stressed that the principle of agreement is already in place, only the officialization is missing, which could take place before the weekend.

Víctor Blanco, president of Racing Club, has total confidence in the contribution that Fernando Gago can provide to the institution and, in the best of cases, the debut could take place this Saturday, October 23. If there are no details that limit the positive outcome of the conversation, he would be on the bench against Rosario Central.

Although he did not have his best start as a strategist when he was in charge of Aldosivi, from which he left due to poor results, the ‘Pintita’ is now getting ready for a bigger challenge.

If these circumstances are fixed, Claudio Úbeda would only remain as interim coach until Tuesday 19 and will lead the team against Unión de Santa Fe. Although he had received the backing of the board at the beginning, at least until the end of the year, the pressure from the bad guys results was more decisive.

How is Racing Club doing in the Professional League?

The Racing Club season has not been very regular and they are currently in box number 11 with 22 points added. For now they remain out of the international tournament classification, although they are two two units away from entering the Copa Sudamericana positions (9th Independent).
