The 2021 season has not been very favorable for San Martín, despite the fact that in the first part of the year they reached the final of Phase 1 in League 1. The team fell into a serious crisis of results in Phase 2 and they got complicated with the relegation, a situation that aroused greater passion in the fans, who decided to express their encouragement in each game.

For a few weeks, the fans of the club ‘Santo’ approached the team’s concentration to support the players, motivating them so that they can escape from the last places of the accumulated table. The results were evident, since the team has a favorable outlook for the last date.

San Martín depends on itself to ensure its continuity in League 1: they only have to beat UTC (3:00 pm). And hours before the departure of those led by José Espinoza to the Iván Elías Moreno Stadium for the last match, a large number of fans were present at the institution’s headquarters to express their full support.

The club’s supporters arrived with a bass drum, banners and some flares, which they used to back up the chants they performed. The players were attentive to the motivating scene and everything was ready for them to define their sporting destiny in Peruvian soccer.

What results will save San Martín?

The San Martín University was in a good position to save the category, given that they are now located in box N ° 15 of the accumulated table with 25 units. The ‘Santo’ team will remain in the first division with a victory against UTC, although if they do not get it, other results could favor it.

In the event of a tie, they must wait for Binacional (against César Vallejo), Alianza Universidad (against Ayacucho FC) to match their matches as well. If San Martín loses, it will only continue in League 1 if the aforementioned clubs, in addition to Cusco FC (against Sport Huancayo), are also defeated.
