Last season, Memphis Grizzlies surprised the Warriors from Stephen Curry in the play-in and classified the PlayOffs. What was cataloged as a “bump” has become an everyday thing: the team led by Taylor Jenkins has progressed to the point of looking face to face with the current MVP’s team, Nikola Jokic. Commanded by a young man Ja Morant, they beat Nuggets and they took hold in the Western Conference with a record of five wins and only three losses. Given this, El Comercio spoke with the coach of Grizzlies on the leadership of Morant.

With 18 points, six rebounds and six assists, Ja Morant script a Grizzlies in the 108-106 victory over Denver Nuggets. The team of Taylor Jenkins got off to a furious start with a first quarter that ended 37-19. This caused Michael Malone, coach de Nuggets, switch to your entire team, except Nikola Jokic.

On the losing side, the MVP led to Denver with 34 points and 11 rebounds. Will Barton – who suffered last Monday before Memphis hitting one of eight shots from the field — he finished with 26 points and seven assists, in addition to charging the Nuggets while recovering from a poor start. For his part, the Argentine Facundo Campazzo contributed with two points, two rebounds and two assists in 14:26 minutes.

The match was tied 104-104 with 3:30 left. After Bane’s 3-pointer with 1:19 left, Jokic shot to reduce the difference to one. Morant made one of two free throws with 10.6 seconds left to put Grizzlies lead 108-106.

Jokic he had a chance to equalize in the final seconds, but his long-range shot bounced off the rim as the clock expired.

I could consult the coach Taylor Jenkins for the leadership of Ja Morant. The coach said the following: “There is a lot to say, but I will summarize it in one sentence: he is a great leader. Few of us have seen the work he did in the offseason, he improved a lot in his game and has become a vocal leader. He talks a lot and always accompanies everyone. He wants to take this team to the next level, that’s his goal ”.

Memphis Grizzlies will face Wizards this Friday, November 5, while Denver Nuggets will do the same against Houston Rockets (05.11).
